The Anatomy of Love

Written by Deborah M. Hodgetts

"Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is wing'd cupid painted blind."

Shakespeare, William.

Love is endless in its many forms, its nature is involuntary, and to science, it is a drive, a thirst to be accepted and cherished by another, a chemical reaction, and the birth of life.

To the ancient Greeks, 'Love' was defined as the madness of God's.

However, psychologists define love as a strong desire to connect with another person emotionally.

Love is many a splendid thing and means different things to many people.

How do you define love?

The Science of Great Love

You are built on love, even when you feel at your darkest place - pause.

Sit in silence, listen to your heart, pray for guidance, and rest on hope.

Why are we so attracted to another person?

It may not just be love at first sight. Your socioeconomic background, education, and family are all aligned too. Your hormones and the signals it sends to your brain forms part of the grand plan.

Love is an old topic from poets to philosophers.

But love, it appears, is also driven by the following factors too:

Connecting The Dots

Scientists seem to think that it is less of a great mystery, and your biology plays a significant part in the game of love. The following chemicals, estrogen, testosterone, dopamine, and serotonin, merge in a magical love cocktail.

It is thought that if you are a high estrogen type, you will most likely be attracted to someone with a high testosterone level.

Love on My Mind

The brain also involves three basic circuits; sex helps us seek out the perfect partner; romantic love - that floaty in the clouds feeling, love at first sight; the attachment phase, the slippers on feeling comfortable stage - Click Here.

Love Smells

In addition to chemical connections and biology, the way you smell adds to the magic of love. Your smell and body odour are closely connected to your gender and sexual orientation.

So, we are all made up of genes and distinct odours, whether you are heterosexual or homosexual.

The Art of Love

Can you paint a picture of love with your heart?

The answer to that question is, Yes!

Love is a creative force that is more than biology and chemicals.

It creates beauty and paints pictures to illuminate our lives.

Love is an art project created by the unseen eye.

Poets and artists have documented this through love poems and art since the dawn of time. You may have enjoyed these with those you love. Your life is also a story of love, sometimes seen and many times unseen forces beyond all comprehension.

"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."

Rumi

What is the Greatest Love?

The greatest of all love is the love for one another. It's the love we share with a stranger in a random act of kindness, and it's caring for our planet and the natural world by acting responsibly by recycling, reusing, and repurposing rather than throwing items away in landfill sites.

Love has many faces, and each has the propensity to change lives and heal the world if only we stop, listen, and act accordingly with compassion, kindness, and a heart full of love.

Change The World With Light

Light a candle, and spread a little love in the world during this time of uncertainty. You could form a circle of light and hold people in your thoughts.

Use candles to help in meditation can help you connect with your heart, relieving you of anxiety and stress, or you may want to float away and relax in a nice warm bath by candlelight.

So, with hope and love, light a candle to illuminate the world.

You may know this quote used by Franklin D. Roosevelt at his inauguration taken from the bible: "And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13.

There are many ways to the heart, but all of them come from love in every aspect of life - you are always brought back to the greatest of all, LOVE. You arrive in the world with love and depart life with love.

Though to many, there is no love. Despite the obvious, you are the epitome of Life and Love.
